Indonesia telah mengajukan sebuah proposal kepada FIFA yang berisi pengajuan untuk ikut serta dalam menyelenggarakan sebuah turnamen besar yaitu Piala Dunia 2022. FIFA pun menerimanya dan masih mempertimbangkan hingga tenggat waktu yang telah ditentukan. Saya pun melihat bahwa Indonesia berpeluang untuk hal ini apalagi kalau FIFA konsisten untuk menggelar WC di setiap benua maka untuk 2022 akan jatuh di benua Asia.
Untuk Asia, Indonesia harus bersaing dengan Aussie, Kuwait, Cina dan Jepang. Memang, saingan Indonesia lebih hebat, namun tidak menutup kemungkinan bahwa Indonesia bisa maju dalam hal sepakbola pada tahun 2022.
Seperti kata Joo, salah satu pembaca Goal.com International, berkata bahwa "I think we should give Indonesia a change to hold the World Cup. Moreover, the time is still enough to make some preparation, and I believe Indonesia can do that. We have too many worries in this day which does not need to fear, the fears that makes us forget that we have the potential to do the best, including Indonesia, which is considered the country of corruption and terrorism. Also, the atmosphere of Indonesia at this time is relatively better, Manchester United itself dare to come there, doesn’t it? I never imagine before that Indonesia could run a big event such as Asian Cup last year, but it happen and we have to give credit for their succeed. It still 2009 and who knows 2018 or 2022 Indonesia become a great nation in economic and football. Indonesia has people who love football so great and I very…very…respect for that spirit."
Berarti Indonesia memang telah memiliki banyak dukungan dari negara luar dalam menyelenggarakan hal ini. Salute for Indonesia!!
